First Boston Spelling Bee<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The Boston Centers for Youth and Families is organizing a spelling bee for all 4th- through 8th-graders who live in Boston. This new opportunity will enable one student representing Boston to travel to the annual Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., in May. BPS students can participate through their school, after-school programs, or community centers. BCYF will assist schools in organizing their own spelling bees, or schools can partner with their local community center.

School and community centers must hold their bees in January 2008, and the citywide Boston Spelling Bee will be on March 15 at the Copley Library. Five BPS schools are already participating. If you are interested, visit www.spellingbee.com to register your school. Please see the attached flyer for more information: http://boston.k12.ma.us/bulletins/SpellingBee.doc.
